Opening the Books

by Bob_Lambie on March 22, 2010

One of the ideas with the Social Print Experiment was to have our books open and viewable, so that you could see what we billed; how much profit we made; and how our experiment was progressing. Outright, the “auto-pilot” bookkeeping system wanted to create a widget that would let you see the books without exposing confidential customer information (i.e. company name and contact), but they are very behind on the project. So, they’ve proposed a workaround, which I am attempting to implement.

I expect to have this workaround built by the end of the week, and you’ll then have a login and password into an account that has the data transcribed into it, but not with the hooks the data currently has (hooks are what ties the accounting system into our merchant account, invoicing, etc) to prevent tampering with.

So, stay tuned, our books will soon be accessible.
